If one needs only 30 years' contributions to receive a full pension etc., should one cease to contribute further after that?

Can employees ask employers not to deduct any more NIC?

Should self-employed people simply stop paying?
Would they be hounded for missed payments?
And what about Class 4 NIC?

Hi Joe
Wishful thinking! Only Class 3 contributions are voluntary - Class 1 (employees) and Classes 2&4 (self employed) are compulsory, regardless of whether they confer any benefit on the contributor.

David
