My client has registered as self employed as he is in receipt of rental income from property. He is now being asked to pay Class 2 NIC. I understood thhat Class 2 NIC was not payable on property income.
Advice please???

Correct, class 2 is not payable on property income - but there is no need to register self-employed, which is probably why NICs are being requested.

I agree with taxattack - no need to register for self-employed and no Class 2 nor Class 4 liability.

This assumes a "passive" landlord with no added services etc.
