World Wide Scale Rates

Postby Dave-A » Wed Jun 14, 2017 5:21 pm

World Wide scale rates have not been updated for several years, during which time sterling has collapsed in value against some currencies, but increased against others.

Will HMRC have a problem with calculating a sterling equivalent overnight rate based on the FX rate when the Scale Rates were last issued, rather than spot?

This means that someone going to Ukraine could get more than a tin of beans per day !

If anyone thinks I need a special dispensation to do this then your feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave-A

Hi Dave-A

Yes you would need a special dispensation as you are trying to agree rates which are different/higher than the FCO rates. A separate application would need to be made to HMRC but before making this application, it would be worth doing a sampling exercise of the actual costs and this can then be used as a basis to agree higher scale rates.

The solution is to reimburse the actual costs.
