Share Options - Selling

Postby gbond » Fri Oct 13, 2017 9:49 am

Please can I have some advice. My husband was given shares in the company he works for when he started.
We are now at a point where we are thinking of them selling them.
I am concerned about the Tax and NI Implications this may have on the income as it will be approximately £10k.
Where do I start?

Thanks

Gemma

It really comes down to the type of shares that are being acquired and the scheme under which the shares are acquired. Most likely the employer will withhold PAYE/NIC on the exercise of the options and on sale, any gain would be subject to CGT if the gain is more than £11,300.
