Wrong Tax Code - company credit card considered Benefits In Kind

Postby Gunit4791 » Thu May 10, 2018 6:13 pm

Each year, despite not earning enough to be on the higher tax code, I get put on the wrong code. It's due to my P11D reporting that I have over £10k Benefits in Kind when in fact this is normal, legitimate business expenditure on my company credit card which is in my name. This can't be right. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a solution?

Best you speak with HMRC and see if they will remove it. If not ask how you lodge a s336 ITEPA 2003 claim ie these expenses have been incurred wholly, exclusively and necessarily in the performance of your employment duties. As to whether these credit card payments should have been declared on your P11d is another matter - see https://www.gov.uk/expenses-benefits-credit-debit-charge-cards.
