Telephones at NIC & EO temporarily out of order

Postby etf » Mon Feb 04, 2019 11:31 am

I tried to telephone 0300 200 3506 (NIC & EO International Caseworker) on Friday and again this morning and on both occasions I have received a recorded message telling me the lines are temporarily out of order. Does anyone know what is going on?

I'm using the above number because a new client has provided me with a letter from PT Operations North East England with no telephone number on it. Having recently watched 'I am Daniel Blake' for the first time, this behaviour trait of HMRC trying to make life as difficult as possible for their customers to speak with them did ring (or not) a chord with me.

Perhaps something else for Sir Jon to try and remedy.

I've had exactly the same with a DMB number recently. I wonder if HMRC have failed to pay their bill?

I suspect they are all on a team building exercise in Bermuda paid for with NRCGT late filing penalties.

Have a mental image of their office morphing into the Heineken complaints office set (other beers are available) with cobwebs etc.

They've driven me into submission and I've put my question in writing.

I tempted myself, but the phones are still 'temporarily' out of order.

Well the number is 'temporarily' out of order for the 8th day on the bounce.

I checked booklet NI38 on-line and it is still suggesting to use this number:

For NICs enquiries phone the NIC&EO International Caseworker
Helpline on 0300 200 3506

When does 'temporarily' become permanently?

Still no service. At least 11 days on the bounce where this telephone number has been unavailable (I'm assuming here they don't moonlight at weekends).

How do telephone calls to this number feature in HMRC's performance statistics? What do the telephone staff do all day if no calls are reaching them? This is all a bit mysterious.

It's HMRC speak, much the same as "We are experiencing unusually high call volumes and you may have to wait a bit longer", whilst these unusually high call volumes have been the norm for the past three years.

Day 12 (in the style of big brother)-line still 'temporarily' out of order.
