Lost Cheque

If a cheque is sent to a clients postal address but is not received at that address, what is the legal position of the client wrt that payment? If sent from an investment company say, is that company responsible for ensuring payment is made?

If sent by recorded delivery, it's the Royal Mail which is responsible. Non delivery normally means cancellation/reissue of cheque.
