Hi I'm a non resident British citezen
At the moment I'm renting out my home in England.
I want to move back to England sell my house which is too large for me and buy a small one for about £200,000 how much SDLT will I have to pay? Would it be best to wait for a few months to become resident before I buy to reduce the SDLT?

Will let someone else answer re: SDLT as it's not an area I am too clued up on.

Have you considered the likelihood of capital gains tax being charged on the sale?

Don't assume because you are non-UK resident under the UK statutory residence test, this will also apply for SDLT. The rules are different, so do some research in this area as a starting point.
