Can a call centre bookmaker be V.A.T registered

Postby Bookmaker » Sun Mar 10, 2024 2:46 pm

Hi Support,

I am a Gambling Commission registered uk bookmaker, I do not operate on the tracks or run a retail estate however I run a call centre I at present am duty registered. Can I registered for V.A.T. as every invoice I get that there is a V.A.T element and at present I am unable to reclaim. This is a significant amount of money in the year.

Best Regards

Stewart

It sounds like your services are taxable. So you can register for VAT; but you would need to charge VAT to clients; if they are bookmakers, they will be unable to recover that VAT.
