What’s new?

  • Revised form CWF1: Becoming self-employed and registering for National Insurance Contributions and/or tax;
  • Revised Contracted-out Guidance Booklets CA14C, CA14D, CA14E and CA16A;
  • PEP & ISA Bulletin number 39;
  • Announcement that HMRC are currently experiencing an issue with new stamp taxes registrations;
  • Updated Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS) list;
  • Charities and bond-washing - update on discussions between HMRC Charities and selected charities about bond-washing;
  • The Finance Act 1994, Section 220 (Amendment) Regulations 2007 (SI 2007/1616) and Explanatory Memorandum, which concern Lloyds underwriters;
  • The Pension Schemes (Categories of Country and Requirements for Overseas Pension Schemes and Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes) (Amendment) Regulations 2007 (SI 2007/1600), which will be of interest where transfers are made from UK registered pension schemes to Australian pension schemes; and

She has been writing professionally since joining CCH Editions in 1998 as a Senior Technical Editor, contributing to a range of highly regarded publications including the British Tax Reporter, Taxes - The Weekly Tax News, the Red & Green legislation volumes, Hardman's, International Tax Agreements and many others. She became Publishing Manager for the tax and accounting portfolio in 2001 and later went on to help run CCH Seminars (including ABG Courses and Conferences).

Sarah originally worked for the Inland Revenue in Newbury and Swindon Tax Offices, before moving out into practice in 1991. She has worked for both small and Big 5 firms. She now works as a freelance author providing technical writing services for the tax and accountancy profession.
