In a move designed to ease the administrative burden for smaller companies it is now possible to file Corporation Tax Returns together with accounts for Companies House

One of the improvements to come out of the recent overhaul of HMRC's Online Systems, is that companies can now submit their Corporation Tax Returns to HMRC, AND their accounts to Companies House, together as one online submission. This is designed to make life easier for many smaller companies, which file the 'short' (4 page) version of the Corporation Tax Return. One of the things that worried many small companies, was that they might then have to supply the otherwise confidential, very detailed 'full accounts' (that normally only go to HMRC) to Companies House as well, if they used this new service. But HMRC has listened to these concerns and has announced that it will be possible to send just the 'abbreviated' or 'modified' accounts to Companies House, as part of the joint submission. But companies should bear in mind that currently, the filing deadlines are still different for HMRC and Companies House.
