
Kevin Kernan has just taken up his new appointment as head of ACCA (the Association of Charted Certified Accountants) Ireland.
Mr Kernan joins ACCA from his previous role as director general of Engineers Ireland, formerly the Institution of Engineers of Ireland. As director general, his achievements included the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategic plan, the re-branding of the organization to Engineers Ireland and extensive lobbying of government and opposition parties on issues relevant to the organisation. Mr Kernan also represented Engineers Ireland on several government and industry task forces.
Previously, he worked for Siemens for 16 years and was based in Dublin and Germany.
Kevin Kernan said: “I am delighted to be joining ACCA Ireland at a time when the membership and reputation is growing in this country. I look forward to engaging with all ACCA Ireland members, affiliates and students to enhance the services we provide for them and ensure their needs and expectations are reflected in our strategies. It is my role to build on the existing reputation and influence the ACCA holds in Ireland with members of the wider Irish economy.”

Kevin Kernan holds a Bachelor of Engineering from UCD, the Certified Diploma in Accounting and Finance from ACCA and an MBA from the Smurfit Graduate School of Business. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, tennis and current affairs.
