VAT payments

HMRC bank account details for payments of VAT changed from 8 July 2009.

For payments made by BACs Direct, Internet/telephone banking or CHAPS, HMRC is using the bank Citi and the new bank account details can be found online at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payinghmrc/vat.htm.
HMRC are working closely with the banking industry to ensure their systems are updated to reflect the new VAT bank account details. However businesses should be aware that not all banks will be able to make the changes immediately and for a short period businesses may need to continue to use the old bank account details.

Where businesses use the old bank details, payments should still be received by HMRC and credited to the correct VAT accounts.

For further details, see the HMRC website at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/payinghmrc/vat-payt.htm.
